Cath Kidston - York

As I'm writing about Cath Kidston for my report for introductory professional studies, I decided to go take some photographs of the shop window as part of my report, to see how it is styled and items are displayed.

Designing for interiors ...

As I have began part 2 of drawing for design I decided to create a drawing set to link with my theme - ethereal. I decided to tape some foliage on to the wall and then tie on some wooden birds.

I then decided to add on some pink roses to link with the floral part of the theme - and to make it look prettier.

New beginnings ...

After finishing part 1 - designing for fashion, I have now began part 2 - designing for interiors. As we've began a new section I was required to have new imagery and drawings, here are some photographs I have taken of some pretty pink roses during spring time.

All of the photographs above are my own.

Window shopping ...

Here are some images I took of a Mulberry Hall shop window whilst shopping in York over the weekend...

I love the use of complementary colours they used when designing the shop window layout, lots of light, dusty pinks and creams really suit the layout of vintage items.

Designing for fashion...

For this part of the module we were asked to design for fashion, which included creating layouts then eventually for our final outcomes produce a top and bottom, but just the front - not the whole thing.
Here are some images of my possible layouts and illustrations I'm considering using -

Amsterdam

I recently took a little trip to Amsterdam for a couple of days, and I can honestly say it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited! Full of lovely views and interesting architecture, there is just so much to do, I will definitely be planning a longer visit there soon.

All photographs are my own.

New beginnings ...

Ethereal
For this project we were given the choice of four words, and to take photographs and draw in relation to the word, I chose the word ethereal, the definition being;

 ethereal
adjective

  1.           extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world.
    "her ethereal beauty"

I thought the words in particular delicate and light were words that I would want my own work to be described as, and so I chose this word.
I began this project by creating some initial drawings, the word floral was to also be included in the project, so I tried to draw flowers in the most beautiful and delicate way I could. For this project I realised I would be required to use some actual colour, rather than just black and white which is how I usually prefer to draw. Colour is a scary concept to me, so in my initial drawings I tried to be brave and adopt some slight, light colour into my drawings. Here are the outcomes:
